Bangkok, Thailand, 29 June 2022
On 29 June 2022, under the project “Enhance Victim Assistance Programme in the ASEAN Member States” supported by ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund, the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC), in collaboration with the General of Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disability of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of the Kingdom of Thailand co-hosted the hybrid National Consultative Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. The Meeting is the third planned national consultative meetings to promote the establishment of the Regional Victim Assistance Network, following the first and the second that had been held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Hanoi, Viet Nam respectively earlier during the year.
The participants shared knowledge and best practices on victim services implementation in the country as well as the establishment of the Regional VAN through the lens of the International Mine Action Standard (IMAS) 13.10, and integrated approach to victim assistance and voice of victims.
The Meeting was led by the Executive Director of ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center, Mr. Prum Suonpraseth and Ms. Saranpat Anumatrajkit, Director General of Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disability of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of the Kingdom of Thailand. Mr. Jeon Joyoung, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Thailand was the guests of honors delivering the remarks.
The meeting brought together over 35 participants in-person and online from all relevant national and international networks and stakeholders (including EO survivors/victims) working with and/or supporting the victim of EO and other persons with disabilities.
