The 20th Meeting of Steering Committee of ARMAC
On 08 December 2022, the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) convened its 20th Steering Committee (SC) Meeting at the ARMAC Permanent Secretariat in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. H.E. Mr. Ung Rachana, in his capacity as 2022 Chair of ARMAC Steering Committee led the discussions. ARMAC Chair thanked SC and ARMAC Permanent Secretariat for the cooperation and efforts extended during Cambodia’s chairmanship. During the meeting, ARMAC Executive Director Mr. Prum Suonpraseth reported on the accomplishments made during the year, as well as remaining deliverables for the year. During the meeting, SC members took note with appreciations of the achievements made by ARMAC since its establishment, and approved the proposed 2023 budget and the workplan.
In his closing remarks, outgoing ARMAC Chair conveyed his appreciation to all SC Members for their excellent cooperation and support during Cambodia’s Chairmanship. The meeting also welcomed the incoming ARMAC Chair H.E. Mr. Sudirman Haseng, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia from the Government of Indonesia who will assume the chairmanship effective 1 January 2023.
The meeting was attended by 27 representatives from the ASEAN Capitals and Embassies in Cambodia. This was the last meeting in 2022 under Cambodia’s Chairmanship.
The 19th Meeting of Steering Committee of ARMAC
On 8 September 2022, the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) convened its 19th Steering Committee (SC) Meeting, under the Cambodian Chairmanship. The Meeting presented key accomplishments in the first and second quarters of the year, and discussed outstanding issues namely, the findings and recommendations of the Mid-Term Review conducted by an independent evaluator and the outcome of the stakeholders’ workshops in the affected member states, financial sustainability of ARMAC, financial and in-kind contributions to-date, and project steering committee mechanism in line with ASEAN Project Management Manual.
H.E. Mr. Ung Rachana, ARMAC Chair and Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, led the meeting. The meeting was attended by over 26 representatives from the 10 ASEAN Member States in person and virtually.
The Special Meeting of Steering Committee of ARMAC
On 11 July 2022, the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) organized a Special Meeting of the Steering Committee to discuss the findings and recommendations of the Mid-Term Review conducted by an independent evaluator and the outcome of the stakeholders’ workshops in the affected member states. The output of the meeting is a Report that will be submitted to the Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) by end of July/August. ARMAC Chair H.E Mr. Ung Rachana presided over the meeting which was fully attended by all representatives of ASEAN member states.
The 18th Meeting of Steering Committee of ARMAC
On 27 April 2022, the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) convened its 18th Steering Committee (SC) Meeting, under the Cambodian Chairmanship. The Meeting presented key accomplishments in the first quarter of the year, and discussed outstanding issues namely, financial sustainability of ARMAC, financial and in-kind contribution to-date, and recommendations from the independent evaluation of ARMAC’s performance and achievements.
In his closing remarks, ARMAC Chair urged everyone present that ” there is a need to adapt our strategy to make it more relevant in facing the challenges; in order to do that, ARMAC SC needs to be proactive, lead ARMAC and convince others to support us so we can move forward”.
H.E Mr. Ung Rachana, ARMAC Chair and Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, led the meeting. The meeting was attended by over 25 representatives from the 10 ASEAN Member States.
